Measurements

Area of a Square

Measure square

Take measurement 1 (M1) in feet
Take measurement 1 (M2) in feet

Multiply M1 x M2 = SQUARE FEET
Note: If measurements are in inches,
multiply M1 x M2 then divide by 144 = SQUARE FEET
Example: M1 = 15′-0″ and M2 = 15′-0″

METHOD USING CALCULATOR
15 x 15 = 225 square feet

Area of a Rectangle

Measure Rectangle

Take measurement 1 (M1) in feet
Take measurement 1 (M2) in feet

Multiply M1 x M2 = SQUARE FEET
Note: If measurements are in inches,
multiply M1 x M2 then divide by 144 = SQUARE FEET
Example: M1 = 50′-0″ and M2 = 15′-0″

METHOD USING CALCULATOR
50 x 15 = 750 square feet

Area of a Circle

Area of a Circle

Take measurement D in feet (D=diameter)
Divide measurement D by 2 = R (R=radius)
Multipy R x R x 3.14 = SQUARE FEET

Method Using Calculator
Step 1: 30 / 2 = 15
Step 2: 15 x 15 x 3.14 = 706.5 square feet

Area of a Triangle

Measure a Triangle

Take measurement H in feet (H=height of triangle)
Take measurement B in feet (B=base or bottom of triangle)

Divide B by 2 then multiply by H = SQUARE FEET
Example: H = 20′-0″ and B = 10′-0″

METHOD USING CALCULATOR
Step 1: 10 / 2 = 15
Step 2: 5 x 20 = 100 square feet
